Sakumono Tennis Club thrashes BOG

Accra, Oct 9, GNA - The Sakumono Tennis Club whipped their counterparts from Bank of Ghana (BOG) 8-4 in a special competition played at Sakumono last Saturday.

The competition which is aimed at improving ties between the two organizations saw the host riding on its gallant fighting spirit to crush their guests who earlier won the singles duel 4-1.

All that the Sakumono Tennis Club required was fine starts from Ben Franka and Robert Kpodo that gave birth to their 7-3 win over the pair of Owusu Menford and Gamel to stimulate the rest of the team to victory. The duo relying heavily on their home cheers had a great start and broke their opponents twice to produce the first win in the doubles competition.

Franklin Brown and Richard Gyabi came face to face with the challenge of keeping their winning formula on course after Stephen Babson and Samuel Donkor had faltered 2-7 in the second game against BOG's Addison and Adjei.

Brown and Gyabi managed a 7-6 victory over Benbella and S. Abbey to restore their lead.

When Eric Owusu and Frank Addy stepped onto the court to face Gadegbeku and C. Clark, they ensured the latter suffered the heaviest defeat on the day by emerging 7-2 victors.

Aided by their heavy serves and swift movement on the court, the duo tore their opponents into shreds with every move, with precision being their hallmark.
