Saanie Daara’s 4-point advice to Kurt Okraku

A staff of the Ghana Football Association, Ibrahim Saanie Daara has made some recommendations which he believes if followed will make Kurt Okraku’s administration successful.

Reacting to a question by GhanaWeb’s Sports Editor, Daniel Oduro on what Kurt must do to succeed, the former GFA spokesperson suggested the setting up of a council made up of experienced and respected personalities whose core duty will be to solve disputes within the football family.

He also called for the introduction of a system that will make it easy for fixed matches to be detected and flagged off.

In the wisdom of the former BBC reporter, Kurt Okraku’s ability to restore unity in a sharply divided family will be the deciding factor in his four-year term.

Saanie who affirmed his trust and believe in the capabilities of the former Dreams FC chief iterated the need for the staff of the FA and all persons connected with football in the country to undergo training and be abreast with changes in the game.

“He must unite the family. It has been very rapturous this election period and even before it. Secondly, there must be something like a council of elders. I call for this body primarily for this purpose. To be able to resolve disputes amongst us. We’ve had a lot of disputes and we should seek to talk to people”.

“He needs to train the football family on issues of ethics, issues of transparency, good governance and the rest. He needs it urgently. I will call for the implementation of the early warning systems for our league. It’s a betting system that for instance looks at people betting on Ghana Premier League”, he said.

Saanie also quelled reports linking him to the GFA General-Secretary post.
He revealed a long-term relationship with Kurt Okraku but announced his unwillingness to play a frontal role in Kurt’s administration.

He remarked that as a ‘good friend’ of Kurt and a follower of Ghana football, he owes him a duty to ensure that his administration is successful.
