SWAG launches Awards Text Poll on June 2

Accra, June 1, GNA - The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) will on Thursday, June 2, officially launch a Text Poll for the 36th Edition of its prestigious Awards Night. The Text Poll is to enable the sporting public to participate in the decision making process of determining which of the three nominees in two of the top most awards; the 2010 Sports Personality of the Year and Footballer of the Years will go home with the prestigious title. A statement signed by SWAG General Secretary, William Dodzi Ezah said the two categories are the top-most awards for the annual prestigious event, scheduled to be organized at the plush Banquet Hall, State House, Accra on Saturday, July 2. Black Stars shot stopper; Richard Kingson, striker Asamoah Gyan and Joseph King Kong Agbeko, the International Boxing Federation (IBF) Bantamweight Champion will vie for the Sports Personality of the Year, with Andre Dede Ayew, Asamoah Gyan and Richard Kingson going for the Footballer of the Year award. The statement said the Association will use the occasion to announce the date for the event, innovations made to the prestigious event and preparations made by the Association for the 36th edition. MTN Ghana on the other hand will use the occasion to announce its sponsorship package for this year's event and its future relationship with the Association. The launching will be held at the Media Center of the Ohene Djan Stadium, Accra, at 10.00 am in the presence of major stakeholders, officials of MTN Ghana, Patrons, well wishers and the media. The SWAG Awards Night, the longest running sports awards event in Ghana, for the second time in its history will be sponsored by communications giants, MTN Ghana. Close to 28 award winners made up of males and females drawn from various sporting disciplines will be decorated on the Night.
