SWAG honour for Amoabeng, Ikpoki

The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) would confer honours on two personalities at its 38th Awards Night on Saturday, June 29, at the Banquet Hall, State House, Accra.

The duo, Prince Kofi Amoabeng, Chief Executive Officer of UT Bank and Michael Ikpoki, Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana would be honoured by the Association for their contribution to the development and promotion of Golf in the country.

According to a SWAG statement, the personal commitment and dedication of Amoabeng to the sport over the years has in no doubt put Golf in a higher pedestal.

“In addition to being captain of the Tafo Golf Club, Amoabeng is on record to have personally financed the renovation of the Tafo Golf Course and raise its standard to international level.”

On Ikpoki, an ardent golfer, it said the sport has seen tremendous improvement thanks to corporate sponsorship from MTN Ghana since he took over the reins of the company.

The two would be honoured with special awards, on the night expected to attract 800 guests from the sports industry.

The Awards Gala is to honour sportsmen and women who distinguished themselves in the year 2012.
