SWAG extends election date

Accra, Dec 3, GNA - The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has decided to go to the polls on December 9 to elect its executive officers to run affairs of the Association.

The election, which was originally scheduled for December 2, was postponed after the members unanimously agreed to the new date at a general meeting held at the Association's Club House last Saturday, chaired by the Vice President, Mr Kwabena Yeboah.

The re-scheduling of the elections is to ensure that all issues relating to the election, which was hit by alleged mass withdrawals by the current executive members and the resignation of the Electoral Commissioner are settled amicably.

The meeting also witnessed the return of the Electoral Commissioner, Harry Mouzalas, hence the need to extend the date to ensure that the information is car ried out to all members before the election is conducted.

However with the mass withdrawal of the current executives, it is obvious that the candidates who had filed for the various positions will be automatically declared the new executive officers of the Association. In a related development, the Electoral Commissioner, Mouzalas has re-opened nominations for the positions of the Vice President and an Executive Member.

Interested members have up to Wednesday December 6, to file their nomination for the elections. The two positions are to be contested for on the said date. 03 Dec. 06
