Round-up of Ghanaian players abroad

ITALY

Sulley Muntari played all 90 minutes and Kevin Prince Boateng lasted 65 minutes as Italian born Ghanaian, Mario Balotteli netted for the third straight game to give AC Milan a 2-1 win over Parma to maintain their sudden chase for Champions’ League qualification.

Elsewhere, Kwadwo Asamoah lasted 56 minutes on his return to action for Juventus who lost 0-1 at Roma but Isaac Coffie played the entire game for Chievo Verona in their 1-1 draw against Palermo.

Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu started on the bench but came on as early as the 9th minutes toreplace the injured Lazzari but could not help Udinese lose 0-1 to Genoa but Amidu Salifu was an unused substitute for Catania as they beat Bologna 1-0.

SPAIN

Michael Essien played all 90 minutes for Real Madrid as they beat Rayo Vallecano 2-0 to close within four points of second placed Atletico Madrid but both Mubarak Wakaso and Anthony Annan were still missing in action for Espanyol and Osasuna respectively.

FRANCE

The suspended Jordan Ayew was absent for Marseille but senior brother, Dede played all match as Olympique Marseille scored deep into injury time to beat Valenciennes 1-0 but both John Boye and John Mensah were absent for Rennes who lost 0-1 at Lille on Friday.

Michael Abu finally made his Ligue 1 debut for Lorient after coming on as a 74th minute substitute in their 2-1 win over Evian TG who had their Ghanaian Africa Cup of Nations duo of Rabiu Mohammed and Jonathan Mensah still absent but Samuel Inkoom was only a benchwarmer for Bastia as they lost 0-1 to Nice.

GERMANY

18 year old Abdul Rahman Baba played all 90 minutes for relegation-bound Greuther Furth but could not help them avoid another loss, 0-1 home at Fortuna Dusseldorf but Afriyie Acquah did not make the Hoffeiheim side that lost 0-1 at home to Stuttgart.

BELGIUM

Daniel Opare warmed the bench all game long for Standard Liege who won 1-0 at bottom side Cercle Brugge who had on 90 minutes action, now 30 year old Francis Dickoh.

Albert Kudemor lasted 66 minutes before he was replaced for Sporting Chaleroi in their 2-0 loss at leaders, Anderlecht whilst Richard Ofori featured for 90 minutes but Rahim Ayew was out suspended for Lierse’s won 2-0 over Mechelen who had Abdul-Yajinu Iddi on 58 minutes action. Elsewhere, Bernard Yao Kumordzi watched from the bench as Genk beat Kortrijk 2-0.

HOLLAND

Kwame Quansah lasted all 90 minutes for Almelo Heracles in their 1-1 draw at NAC Breda whilst Dutch-born Ghanaian winger Memphis Depaywas again only a benchwarmer for PSV as they beat Utrecht 2-1, Ghanaian Nana Kwesi Asare going off to a suspected injury after just 42 minutes. Dutch born Ghanaian, Johan Kapelhoff played all game for Groningen who lost 0-2 at Vitesse but Fred Benson failed to make even the bench for PEC Zwolle against Feyenoord.

PORTUGAL

Christina Atsu returned from the Africa Cup of Nations with a bang for FC Porto by opening the scoring before getting replaced after 65 minutes in their 2-0 away success at Beira Mar.

Elsewhere, David Addy played all 90 minutes for Vitoria Guimaraes in their 1-0 win over Moreirense but William Tiero did not even make the bench for Gil Vicente who lost 2-3 at home to Sporting Lisbon.

TURKEY

Jerry Akaminko started on the bench but came on as early as the 29th minute yet could not help Eskisehirspor avoid a 0-3 whitewash at home to Kaysehirspor. In the second tier 1.Lig, Torric Jebrin played for 89 minutes as 1461 Trabzon beat Karsiyaka 3-2, Emmanuel Banahene scoring his 10th goal in 21 games on loan for the losing side.
