Cristiano Ronaldo has sustained a knee tendon injury, his club Al Nassr confirmed in an official statement, casting doubt over his short-term availability in a crucial stage of the season.

The issue was detected following Al Nassr’s match against Al-Fayha, on Saturday, February 28, 2026, where Ronaldo endured a frustrating evening that included a missed penalty.

The 41-year-old forward requested to be substituted with fewer than ten minutes remaining.

Head coach Jorge Jesus initially downplayed concerns after the game, describing the situation as muscle fatigue and explained that the substitution was precautionary with the team already ahead.

However, after a scheduled rest day, medical tests conducted on Monday, March 2, 2026, revealed a tendon problem in Ronaldo’s knee.

A subsequent diagnosis confirmed the injury, prompting the club to announce that he has begun rehabilitation and will be assessed daily.

No specific return date was provided at the time.

However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has since reported that Ronaldo is expected to be sidelined for between two and four weeks.

The setback makes him a major doubt for Portugal’s March international friendlies against Mexico and the United States.

Despite the injury, Ronaldo is not expected to miss the 2026 World Cup scheduled for June.
