Striker Richmond Boakye scored for Jiangsu Suning FC in their 3-2 defeat to English Premier League side Southampton in a friendly on Wednesday.
Tthe Ghana international gave his Chinese Super League side a 2-1 lead in the 34th minute.
A deep free-kick was kept alive at the far post before Boakye shot into the bottom corner from inside the box.
But Nathan Redmond gave the Saints the equalizer two minutes before the first half whistle.
Boakye was playing his second competitive match since an ankle injury in late May on the final day to the end the first round of the Chinese Super League.
His performance is a huge boost for Jiangsu Suning FC ahead of the resumption of the Chinese Super League second round next week.
Manolo Gabbiadini gave Southampton the lead in the 26th minute but Lingfeng Zhang levelled for the hosts three minutes later.
Samuel Gallagher snatched the match winner for the visitors on 77 minutes.
