Registration for first ever NGO Games & Fair ends September 20

The promoters and partners of the maiden edition of the Ghana NGO Games & Fair have fixed Friday 20, September 2013 as the last day for all interested participants to complete registration.

This is to enable the organizers make the necessary preparations towards this pioneering Ghanaian brand that is expected to attract international and Ghanaian NGOs, strategic partners and development agencies.

A statement from the organizers ORPED Sports signed by its Country Manager, Kodwo Morgan said: ?We have been greatly encouraged by the responses that have come in from the NGO fraternity in Ghana?.

The statement announced that the following organizations have joined as partners:

Wishes Alliance, (a platform that connects NGOs, volunteers and other stakeholders to establish successful partnerships and embark on fully integrated humanitarian projects) and Young Men Christian Association (YMCA), (a Christian organisation that empowers young people for the African Renaissance).

Alive & Kicking (an organisation that uses business practices to pursue charitable and developmental objectives by producing hand-sewn footballs (soccer balls), volleyballs, netballs, handballs and rugby balls here in Ghana, Kenya, and Zambia.

Others are, The ANOPA Project (an organisation that uses sports as an instrument for individual development, promotion of gender equity, peace building and conflict resolution, communication as well as social mobilization).

Doxa School of Fashion & Design, (a fashion school geared towards empowering the creativity of young people and the Coalition of Volunteering Organizations of Ghana (COVOG), a network of organizations that use volunteers and promotes volunteerism for national development.

The statement said, from the responses and requests by stakeholders the event will now consist of; NGO Fair/Exhibition, Fun Games, and an advocacy day to promote the institution of ?Ghana NGO Day? ? a day set aside every year to celebrate the work of NGOs in Ghana.

In this regard, the theme for the Ghana NGO Games & Fair has been expanded to ?Celebrating NGOs in Ghana & Building Partnerships for Development?.

Some of the NGOs and Strategic NGO partners processing participation registration include; Care international, University of Ghana Sports Directorate, Lutheran Media Ministries, Western Region Network of NGOs (WERENGO) and the Coalition of NGOs in Water and Sanitation (CONIWAS).

Also processing forms are; Friends of the Nation (FON), Concerned Health, Voice Volunteers, CICOL, Forest Watch, Freeworld International, Ghana Muslim Academy, and Tropenbos International.

The Ghana NGO Games & Fair is an initiative of ORPED Sports, the sports for development (SFD) subsidiary of ORPED Ghana. It is slated for Saturday, October 5, 2013, from 7am - 5pm at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra.
