Referee Lamptey to handle Rwanda/Egypt 2010 qualifier

Accra, Sept. 2, GNA - Ghanaian referee Joseph Lamptey has been selected to handle this weekend's Rwanda versus Egypt 2010 World Cup/Orange Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. The Group C clash is slated for Saturday, September 5 at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali.

Information gathered by GNA Sports indicates that referee Lamptey will lead the quartet of Ghanaian match officials selected by the World soccer governing body, FIFA for the crucial game. The 34-year old Immigration Officer will be assisted on the lines by compatriots Haruna Ayuba and David Laryea with William Agbovi serving as the fourth official.

Ugandan Charles Masembe will act as the Referees Assessor, Samugaba Mustapha of Burundi as the Match Commissioner and Cameroonian Abel Mbengue the Security Officer.

Referee Lamptey has been arguably the busiest Ghanaian 'Knight of the Whistle' this season having officiated series of high profile matches ranging from continental club championships to continental championships. Last April, the referee served as the fourth official for the final match of the CAF U-17 Championship between hosts Algeria and Gambia.
