Reebok Sports Academy: Uganda Beat Ghana

According to a Ugandan Paper, New Vision, Reebok has confirmed to construct a junior sports academy in Uganda. Uganda managed to beat other bidders in Ghana, that was backed by legendary soccer star Abedi Pele and Cameroon's that was supported by Roger Milla, Pakistan was also among other countries that bid for the academy.

The Construction work for the academy, which will be called Katumwa Sports Academy, is set to start in 2007 after talks have been finalised with all the stakeholders.

The delighted David Katumwa yesterday made the announcement after his successful trip to Asia and Europe in November last year.

His programme proposal beat two other countries, Ghana and Cameroon in the race for the academy.

"It was a tight race but at the end of it all, they zeroed on Uganda," said Katumwa yesterday.

"As Uganda, we will provide land and labour and Reebok will cater for construction materials, equipment and instructors."
