Raymond Narh sets a date with Smith Odoom

Ghana's Commonwealth gold medallist, Raymond Narh, on Thursday signed a 10 million cedis contract to challenge Smith Odoom to his National, West Africa and African Super featherweight title.

Under the terms of an agreement pertaining to the fight, the winner of the 12 round title fight pockets the entire 10 million cedis purse at stake. Each camp is expected to put in a five-million cedi bet.

The encounter, which is under Prince and Baseline Promotion Syndicate is dubbed "Put-Up or Shut-Up" and is scheduled for 22nd February at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Speaking to GNA Sports before the signing of the agreement, Raymond Narh debunked the assertion by people that he is not ripe for the fight saying the time is ripe for him to prove to Odoom that he is capable of beating him.

"Odoom has been running away from me for a very long time and now is the time for me to be crowned as the featherweight champion" Narh stated. He said all his words are going to be put into action on the day of the fight and challenged Odoom to either "Put-Up or Shut-Up".

Smith Odoom did not turn for the signing on ceremony but was represented by his coach. Mr Alfred Martey of the Prince and Baseline promotion outlined some other bouts lined up for the night. These include a 12 round title fight for a West African Championship between Joseph Sarkordie and Ben Neequaye while Prince Mama takes on Braimah "Bukom Banku" Kamoko in the National and super Middle weight championship.

Osuman Akaba would also take on Ayitey Mettle in an eight round contest but the opponent of Anyetei Laryea the National and west African bantamweight Champion is yet to be named.

Mr Martey in an answer to a question told the GNA Sports that even though the recent championship they staged was a financial loss, their desire to promote professional boxing to greater heights has compelled them to come out with this show.
