Goalkeeper Raymond Fenny is one of the three Equador '95 Starlets World Cup winning squad currently playing active soccer.

He, together with Black Stars' Stephen Appiah and Christian Saba, who incidentally were former players of Accra Hearts of Oak are the only players yet to lay down their tools as footballers.

Some of the '95 World Cup winning team like goalkeeper Michael Abu, Joe Ansah, Nana Atakorah Amanianpong, Baba Sulley, Bashiru Gambo, Kamara Dini, Abu Iddrisu, Awudu Issaka, the late Patrick Allotey, David Amoako, among others have all retired from active soccer.

In an interview with Happy FM's morning show host Mr Charles Osei Asibey yesterday, he mentioned that he started his soccer career on a good footing; exuding much potential but things did not go the way he expected.

He however told "Where are they?" that he is still keeping his head up to realise his dreams, his numerous challenges notwithstanding.

According to the former Hearts and Hasaacas goalkeeper who is currently plying his trade in Romania, he owes people like former national and Hearts goal stopper Ali Jaraah, coach Sam Arday, Nanabanyin Eyison a lot of thanks.

"Somebody like Ali Jaraah has inspired me so much, I hear he has lost his dad, I wish to send him my sympathy," Fenny stated.

Regarding his future plans, he revealed that he has plans of providing and caring for fatherless children saying, "My primary focus after hanging my gloves is to set up a foundation and cater for children with no fathers.

"Another area I have set eyes on is to venture into pastoral ministry but that is a seconday issue, if God wants me as a full time pastor, why not? I will embrace it," he added. Responding to his readiness to play for the national senior soccer side, he responded in the affirmative stating, "It's an honour to wear the national colours and I am ready any day any time."

He noted that Coaches like Isaac Paha expressed little faith in him at the early stages of his career but with ternacity of purpose, he proved them wrong. Fenny praised Stars' keeper Richard Kingson for his consistency.
