Rangers boss excited by imminent Dodoo acquisition

Rangers manager Mark Warburton is eagerly waiting the signing of Leicester City striker Joe Dodoo.

The youngster is set for a switch to the Scottish side, having struggled for first team football at King Power Stadium.

Although out of contract with the Foxes, the 21-year-old has reportedly been offered a new deal, and it is unclear if a move to Rangers will be a loan deal or permanent.

"We are trying to get things to completion," Warburton told pressmen on Friday.

"There is paperwork between the clubs [Leicester and Rangers]. If all goes well, we can work with him [Dodoo] early next week, but as yet, it's not finalised.

"I see him as a young, exciting striker. I see him probably more central than wide, but we like players with that flexibility of offering us width.

"If we have players with flexibility of position, then it gives us far more options.

“We have to add value and quality to the squad, and add characters who add something off the pitch as well."

Dodoo, who had a short loan spell with English lower tier outfit Bury last season, touched down in Scotland on Tuesday.

"He came in and trained with us, fitted in really well," Warburton added.

"He was chatting away to Joey Barton, to Lee Wallace, the skipper, and Kenny Miller, and the young guys as well."

Dodoo made one appearance as Leicester won the league title.

Having turned out for England at youth level, the Kumasi-born is on the verge of completing a nationality switch to represent Ghana.
