Kuban Krasnodar midfielder Mohammed Rabiu’s season is over after being ruled out of action for up to six months with a cruciate ligament rupture, GHANASoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The Ghana international suffered the injury during last Sunday’s 1-0 home defeat to Rostov in the Russian Premier League.

Rabiu had to be replaced after 63 minutes during his 20th league appearance for his club.

Tests revealed, the 26-year-old had a gap between the interior cruciate ligaments in his right knee and damaged the internal meniscus.

According to GHANASoccernet.com sources, he will travel to Germany to undergo surgery next week.

Rabiu will miss the remaining two matches in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Mauritius away in June and the home clash against Rwanda.
