Rabiu in Germany for surgery

Black Stars midfielder Mohammed Rabiu has traveled to Germany for surgery on a troubling thigh injury.

The Kuban Krasnodar midfielder according to a source will undergo surgery on Monday, September 23, to correct and drain out a bloody patch from his thigh.

The source told GNA Sports, Rabui could be on the sidelines for six weeks due to the injury sustained during his club's UEFA Europa League Group A game with Swiss side, St Gallen, last Thursday, at the AFG Arena.

The midfielder who was replaced by Artur Tlisov after 20 minutes will play no part in Ghana's 2014 World Cup play-off first leg with Egypt scheduled for October 15 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

The news is set to be an unwelcoming one to the Black Stars technical team as the former Liberty Professionals star has become the pillar of the team's midfield recently. Rabiu has struck a formidable partnership with Mubarak Wakaso and Kwadwo Asamoah during the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

The former national youth star may be available for the return encounter fixed for 15-19 November depending on the speed of his recovery.

He joined Russian side Kuban from French side, Evian Thonon Gaillard last month.
