RTU coach Roberto confident of survival

Real Tamale United expatriate coach Carlos Roberto is optimistic his team will beat the drop at the end of the season. The bottom side was taken to the cleaners on Saturday by an adventurous Amidaus Professionals side who could afford the luxury of a missed penalty to clinch a 3-1 win.

Ukrainian Roberto who looked on haplessly still believes his team will maintain their Premier League status at the end of the season.

In his post match press briefing the debutant Brazilian said, “I won’t be here if I wasn’t sure of the team’s survival. The fans should believe in the project because the signs were there today, we passed the ball very well and create a lot of chances, the players showed much courage today than they did in fifteen matches and I have absolutely no doubt about our survival. All we need to do now is to be a lot more accurate in front of goal.”

On the current unpaid allowances and salaries brouhaha that rocked the club just before the game the coach said, “I have absolutely no problem with the management. They have been wonderful with me and the players. The players have to understand that what is important is RTU’s survival. The players know the situation and they have to sacrifice to the maximum and maximize their potential for the club.”

RTU failed to train for two days before the tie and an unnamed player believes the side is on its way down unless the management arrests the financial rot in the team and motivates the players to get desired results. He believes the financial problem is a major reason why the team is struggling this season and only a financial miracle will save the team.

RTU are currently sixteenth on the Glo Premier League log with five points after sixteen games.
