RE: JOY FM Sports Reporter Goes Rouge

Our attention was drawn to a story about our colleague and Olympic Correspondent, Tony Bebli with the headline : 'London 2012: JOY FM Sports Reporter Goes Rouge.'

I must state that we are rather surprised at the tone of this story which clearly is out to cast a dark cloud on the hard-earned reputation of our colleague and our brand as a whole. If you have monitored all reportage that has followed the initial story Tony Bebli wrote on myjoyonline, no official of the Ghana Olympic Committee has come out to categorically state that the stories being broadcast by Joy Sports neither have any of the athletes concerned come out to deny the stories.

Also of this afternoon edition of the Joy Sports Track on Joy 99.7fm seasoned writer Kwabena Yeboah, confirmed the story about Emmanuel Nartey's threat to quit if he wasn't paid his bonuses. So where is the fabrication?

We as a team at Joy Sports have worked industriously to get our brand where it is, therefore it is in our own interest to protect it and work even harder to maintain our enviable position. If the true source of that story will establish contact with the Ghana Olympic Committee Members and executives, they will attest to our consistency in cross checking with them when such matters arise.

We at Joy Sports have also given the current Ghana Olympic Committee our platform on many occassions to discuss issues of interest to the sport-loving people of Ghana. So we must be very unfair to want to write 'untrue stories' about them.

Also, I beg to differ from the suggestion that he (Tony Bebli) wrote the stories because he was denied 'media relations'. Whoever wrote that story should have clearly explained the meaning of the jargon 'media relations' because clearly not all the readers operate within his or her world or area of endeavour.

I believe that we as parties in this matter must establish contact and get to the bottom of this matter with immediate effect considering how damaging that story is to our reputation. I have copied the head of the Joy Sports Team on this and I am hoping for an immediate response since we value our credibility.
