RE: GFA Sweeps $450,000 Saga Under The Carpet

It is important to correct some errors in the GNA story bearing the above headline and published in your esteemed medium. First we want it placed on record that both the Auditor-General and the National Security coordinator did separate investigations into the $450,000 saga and conclusively ruled that no shenanigan had been perpetrated by Lepowura M.N.D Jawula.

Yesterday the Congress of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) voted to officially certify the findings contained in the report of the Auditor-General and the National Security Coordinator that determined on the basis of irrefutable evidence that the Lepowura was not culpable of the findings of financial impropriety leveled against him in 2001.

The overwhelming vote by Congress endorsing the findings of these two important state institutions cannot in any sense of the word be equated to sw eeping the ?$450,000 saga under the carpet? as alluded in the GNA report.

Secondly the report is in the public domain and journalists who are interested in serious investigative work should make an effort to get a copy and share the contents with their readers.

It is an undeniable fact that Lepowura Alhaji M.N.D Jawula is among the finest football administrators in Ghana and beyond. His current stature as an eminent chief, Deputy Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) that has been tasked to oversee the successful hosting of CAN 2008 and the crucial role he played in Ghana?s winning bid to host CAN 2008 is an eloquent testament to this reality.

Followers of soccer who love the truth should apprise themselves of the full facts by reading the Daily Graphic report of Thursday 20th July 2006. The difference between the Graphic report and that of the GNA is quite blatant to say the least.

Finally we wish to extend our warmest thanks to all Ghanaians for their support over the years and also for appreciating the extraordinary achievements the Lepowura has chalked as a sports administrator and ambassador.
