Queens Bayor arrives and buoyant about their chances

Accra, Oct 19, GNA - Adjoa Bayor, skipper of Ghana's Black Queens arrived from China on Wednesday, ahead of the African Women Championship (AWC) slated for Nigeria next week with the confidence that the team can rule the continent for the first time.

The Queens currently touring the United States of America (USA) for the biannual competition will arrive in Ghana on Sunday, October 22. The skipper though could not join the team on the trip due to club engagements, told the GNA Sports that the Queens can glitter in the competition that commences on Saturday, October 28 to span two weeks. Bayor scored four times for her Tanjin Women Football Club in China after a two-month spell.

The creative genius is buoyant the present team will ride on its rich youthful exuberance plus the experiences of lots, like her to wrestle power from sworn rivals, the Super Falcons of Nigeria. The Queens even though are considered among the frontiers of the women's game in Africa they are yet to win the competition despite making countless appearance at the finals.

The playmaker told the GNA Sports that the team will fight to ensure the trophy that eluded them at the 2002 tourney also staged in the Delta State, Nigeria will be brought home next month. Bayor will join the team that leaves for Nigeria on Thursday, October 25.
