Quashie Snubs Ghana - Opts For Scotland

Ghanaian target Nigel Quashie has played his first game for Scotland and thus not illegible to play for Ghana. The Portsmouth midfielder made his Scotland debut in Thursday's 1-0 friendly win in Estonia, which was settled by a James McFadden goal 14 minutes from time.

Quashie was born in London to a Ghanaian dad and English mother and has represented England at Under-21 and B international levels.

But he jumped at the chance to switch international allegiances and join Berti Vogts' squad, which was made possible by the fact that his mother Caroline's father, Andrew McFarlane, was born in Glasgow.
