Quartey elected President of Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation

Gideon Kwarte Quartey of Dade Boxing Club has been elected President of the Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation (GABF) after beating Kumasi based Eugene Nyarko Appiah.
The former Vice President of the Greater Accra Boxing Association polled 27 votes against the new comer Appiah who got 16 votes and attracted large support despite losing.
George Lamptey won the First Vice President position with 17 votes as Abdul Samadu Mohammed got the Second Vice President with 20 votes. Berjamin Quartey was elected unopposed as Treasurer
Theophilus Edwin Addo and Ebenezer Oforiquaye Quaye were elected as Executive members polling 28 and 23 respectively..
GOC President Prof. Francis Dodoo who together with officers of the Electoral Commission supervised the process commended the delegates and stake holders who had to wait for 6 months to be instructed by AIBA the world body controlling amateur boxing.
Gideon Quartey promised to put Ghana amateur boxing where it belongs.
Saka Akwei of the NSA urged the new executive to start planning for the up coming African games and groom more talents.
