The Ghana Rugby Association will on the 6th of October 2012 host its Women’s 7s Rugby Tournament at the Athletics Oval of the University of Ghana.
The competition, which is sponsored by Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PWC), is the first Women’s tournament for 2012 and is expected to brew a lot of excitement, the tournament also doubles as the ceremony that out doors the University of Ghana Women’s Rugby Team after months of training.
The competition has attracted the ladies side of our own Cosmos Rugby Club; Champions of our 2012 men’s 7s League which ended in May, Warrior Ladies Rugby Club, who have close ties to Cosmos, The University of Ghana Women’s Rugby Team and Two teams from Cape Coast.
We can’t wait to see whether Cosmos pulls off one of its unbeatable performances or whether one of the new comers pulls a surprise, by beating Cosmos Ladies to the trophy.
Coaches of all the teams; Amuzuloh Salim of Cosmos Ladies, Julius Amevor of the University of Ghana Ladies Team and George Ladipo who is currently in charge of the Central and Western Regions have been known over the years to orchestrate some of the best strategies as far as rugby is concerned, as two of the coaches involved had their teams; (Cosmos Buffalos and Legon Titans), separated by a single point in the just ended league, the three coaches have also coached the National teams on different occasions to win laurels for the country. A competition that features teams coached by three of our nations finest can only promise excitement and brilliance.
We take this opportunity to invite all Clubs, Rugby enthusiasts and the media to come in their numbers to support rugby in its beauty.
