Preview of Ghana Premier League match day 25

The Ghana Premier League is back again this weekend after a month’s break. All 16 teams are set and ready to hit the ground running again. Just four games to bring a competitive league to an end, the winner is still not clear.

It’s not going so well for Bolga All Stars as they are the only team confirmed relegated.

But the other two clubs to join Bolga All Stars are still fighting for their fate. All games will be played on Sunday across the length and breadth of the country.

At the Cape Coast Sports Stadium, Ebusua Dwarfs will welcome Liberty Professionals in what will be a crucial encounter. Dwarfs have recorded 1W, 2D, 2L in their last 5 games while their opponents have also lost three times in their last 5 games, winning 2.

Liberty’s last win at the Cape Coast Stadium was in 2013. In Tema, WAFA will make a trip and be welcomed by Tema Youth.

WAFA, the league leaders, are not in a rush but sitting comfortably on the league log with 46 points. The home side have picked 22 points on home soil while the away side have also accumulated 12 points away from home and is the 3rd best team to have won more away games.

Asante Kotoko have collected just 9 points on the road in their last five home games – W2, D3, L0. They invite Bolga All Stars to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. The debutants are in a shambles after losing their last seven away trips in the league.

Berekum Chelsea are on 33 points, on par with visiting Elmina Sharks. At the Berekum Park, the home team will host the away side, who have won all four games under their new coach Yaw Acheampong.

Ashanti Gold have not won at the Bechem Park in four attempts – L1, D3. Bechem United, the home side, will welcome a team which has won just once in their last 4 meetings on home soil.

Their last win over the Miners at home was in 2011, a 2-0 scoreline. Tenth-placed Wa All Stars welcome Medeama, 5th on the league log.

There is just 3 points separating the two sides. Wa All Stars are unbeaten in their last 5 home games – W3, D2 – and are also undefeated in their last 5 meetings against the visiting side. Aduana Stars are chasing the top spot again after staying there for 32 days. They face Inter Allies at the Dormaa Park.

The visitors have a poor away run, having lost three and drawing twice in their last 5 away games. The much-anticipated derby on Sunday involves Great Olympics and Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Hearts have the lion’s share of wins in the derby with 2 out of 3. Olympics will be looking to record their 1st ever win against their city rivals, which could also serve as a momentum to escape relegation.
