Premier League thrills comes off on Wednesday

Accra, Oct. 2, GNA - Obuasi Ashgold will seek to restore their lead in the premiership when they battle Liberty Professionals at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium in a mid-week thriller on Wednesday. Ashgold, who until last Sunday were on top of the table with aspirations of keeping alive their dreams of making another appearance in the continental competition were toppled by Kumasi Asante Kotoko last Sunday.

The Porcupine Warriors who won their outstanding League game against Hasaacas will need a home win to restore their position and possibly be among the first four after the mid-week games. For this, the Miners are simply in no mood to drop any point, more especially when they are playing at home and this presents the visitors with a daunting task, even though their last home record speaks good about them.

Records of the two sides put them at equal strength as Ashgold have picked six out of eight points by winning two matches at home whilst Liberty recorded one of their two wins in the season when they beat King Faisal 3-2 at the Sunyani Coronation Park.

This clearly gives signs of a grueling encounter between the two sides as to who to spearhead professionalism in Ghana soccer. Troubled King Faisal, currently lying at the bottom with minus - one point after the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) deducted six points from their points haul for fielding unqualified player will play host to Berekum Arsenals at their adopted home 96 the Sunyani Coronation Park.

Faisal will only have their woes deepened if they fail to grab the three points at stake and this is one of the factors that will spur the Alhaji Gruzah boys on to succeed. But trust the 93Gunners=94 of Ghana soccer to give them a good run for their money.

After having a flying start at the beginning of the season with a 3-0 win over Power FC, Kpando Heart of Lions have experienced unpleasant runs in the season losing three of their games but will have an opportunity to revive their hopes when they clash with Gamba All Blacks at the Kpando Stadium.

Even though Accra Hearts of Oak have augmented their squad with two former players - Charles Taylor and Ishmael Addo, the Phobians will not have things easy when they face bogey side, Tema Real Sportive at the Tema Stadium.

It is expected that the duo might ease the task of Hearts by providing an antidote to their goal draught but the well drilled Sportive side is capable of dealing with them to at least keep a scoreless sheet.

Feyenoord Academy looks too weak for inform and League leaders, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, even though the academy boys will be playing at their home ground the Swedru Stadium.

Sekondi Hasaacas look the most favourite to carry the three points at stake in their game against Real Tamale United (RTU) at the Gyandu Park, since the away records of the latter have been generally poor. Great Olympics have been handed a seemingly easy task against Tano Bofoakwa at the Ho Stadium, whilst Tema Youth and Power FC will struggle for supremacy at the Tema Stadium on Thursday.
