Polo not expensive, its sport for everyone

The assertion that Polo is an expensive sport reserved for the rich and wealthy is a complete misconception, says Harold Awuah-Darko, Captain of the Accra Polo Club. Mr. Awuah-Darko insists that the average Ghanaian can play Polo because its not as costly as perceived.

“Polo is a fantastic sport that everybody can play and we are beginning to encourage more Ghanaians to play. People think it’s expensive but it’s not,” the Accra Polo Club captain told ALL SPORTS exclusively.

So what is involved in playing Polo, a team sport played on horseback in which the objective is to score goals against an opposing team?

Hear Mr. Awuah-Darko: “It’s very affordable to play. You buy your horse, then you feed your horse and buy the equipment to play. You then learn how to ride and know how to ride well, you got no problem.”

He also explains that there is no age limit once the player has the passion. “For the average Ghanaian it’s a good sport.

"Kids are playing and my own father played at a very old age so it’s never too early or too late,” Harold Awuah-Darko asserted.
