Polo: Big pre-season bash today

Accra Polo Club will usher in the new season with a mega party at its club house, behind Shangri La Hotel, at 7p.m. today.

The high-profile event will be an occasion for members of the club and their associates to fraternise, and also for the newly-elected Captain of the club, Mr Kwakye Dopoah Dei, to outline his vision for the coming season.

The party will be preceded by some practice chukkas at 3p.m, while the side attraction will be a fashion show.

Mr Dei, who doubles as the president of the Ghana Real Estate Devepers Association (GREDA), was recently returned into office for the third time as the captain of the Accra Polo Club.

The businessman with an unbridled passion for polo hinted The Mirror this week that he was committed to laying a solid foundation to attract more Ghanaians to the sport.

He encouraged polo players to be regular in practice chukkas so they can remain fit for the forthcoming international friendlies.

The stables manager of the club, Mr George Agyemang, promised that the new season would be quite entertaining as all the horses are in good shape.
