Physical activity promotes good health – Dr. Pambo

Dr. Prince Pambo, Medical Officer in
charge of the National Sports Authority (NSA) and the National Youth Football
teams has urged Ghanaians to take physical fitness very serious and train daily
or weekly to achieve the results of healthy living.
Speaking to yours truly at the end
of the first monthly Accra Works Out Fitness Programme at the Accra Sports
Stadium, he noted that training to be fit should not be limited to only
sportsmen and women who engage in competition, but everybody should play at
part and achieve something for him or herself.
Taking part in the Fitness Programm,
he said the initiative of Primeval Consult is ideal, laudable and inspiring for
the nation. He noted that if more people would join, many health problems can be
solved and people will not waste money on drugs and medical bills.
According to Dr. Pambo, physical
exercise conditions the body and tones it for good life and nice structure. He
hinted that training makes one to live long and be stronger so both adults and
children should join the show next month at the Multipurpose Court to burn
calories and drink more alkaline water to be well conditioned.
Madam Alice Attipoe, Acting Director
General of the National Sports Authority also called on Ghanaians to take advantage
of the free tuition from experienced trainers like Arnold Aryee, a former Man
Ghana contestant, now a consultant in gym and fitness training to make their
bodies look nicer.
After going through al the training
schedule, she praised the promoters of the monthly exercise and tasked Primeval
Consult to expand the programme and if possible make the training every
fortnight instead of the monthly.
“Everybody needs to be fit and
fitter, so I want this programme to be an be maintained and even taken to all the
regions so that all Ghanaian can benefit” she stated.
Nasiru Yakubu, trainer at the plush
and sophisticated Accra Sport Stadium Gym said the Accra Works Out has come to
stay and they will groom the plan and fit it into their plans to allow more
people to benefit.
He praised those who came for the
first programme and urged other Keep Fit Clubs to come as there are much to
gain in terms of linking up, getting more friends and becoming stronger and
fitter.
Larry Opare-Otoo, CEO of Primeval
Consult hinted that it was not easy getting sponsorship and media coverage as
the event attracted a cross section of TV, radio and newspaper reporters.
He praised all the patrons who took
part in the exercises especially all those who have chalked 50 years, but
trained well and better than the young participants.
He named some companies who were
touched by the need for exercising like Lord J Medical Center, Hanqok Ventures,
Gidi Herbal, Hisense, Jubilee Sports and the financial institutions who
supported and are willing to do more if the number of participants increase.
The first event attracted almost 90
people and it was described as very encouraging. They were given some health
tips by Lord J Medical Services who are producers of the alkaline water that
reduces acidic waste and improves the flow of blood and circulation in the
human body.
