Chicago Fire manager Veljko Paunovic is still monitoring the recovery progress of Ghana attacker David Accam and is not sure whether he can recover in time for the Major League Soccer clash with Philadelphia Union.

The 25-year-old suffered a knee sprain at training and prevented the former Helsingborg IF star from joining the Ghana national team for the 2017 AFCON double-header against Mozambique in Accra and Maputo.

Accam began his MLS season on a blistering note, scoring twice in his opening two games and Fire are eager to have him back after he was forced to sit out of the clash with Columbus Crew before the international break.

Manager Paunovic reveals the Ghana international is going through recovery but he is unsure whether he would be available for the home game with Philadelphia Union.

“David is recovering well,” the former Atletico Madrid midfielder said on Monday. “We still don’t know if he will be on time for the Saturday game, but he is recovering well. We have to check his status day by day and see how he will recover for the game. At this point we can’t say if we will be able to play the game against Philly.”

Accam was voted Fire's Best Player last season.
