Dr. Patrick Bankah and his doubles Partner Prince Ablorh won their third consecutive Babolat Tema Doubles Open title with a 7-6(2), 7-6(3) victory over Rahaman Ablorh and Isaac Bempo in the social one category at the GHACEM Club House last weekend.
After each team took its serve to reach to 6 all, Dr. Bankah and Prince displayed some neat touches at the net to break their opponent twice to win 7-6(2).The second set followed the same pattern as the defending champion Bankah/ Ablorh continued to show their superiority and won 7-6(3).
In the mixed doubles final, 2016 finalist Andrews Appiah picked Yvonne Bruce Tagoe as his new partner for the tournament which yielded the result defeating defending champions Thomas Ohene and his partner Fustina Tagoe 5-7, 6-3, 10-8.
In the Boy’s 14 and under Aaron Asante and his junior brother Amos Asante won after ousting Desmond Ayaaba and Bright Nortey 6-1, 6-4.
George Hackson and David Kisseih won the men’s social two.
Mr Ismailia Lamptey, CEO of Baboo Sports and the tournament co-coordinator said he was impressed with the high level of play exhibited by both the professional and social players. He pleaded on corporate bodies should come on board so that the tournament will be extended to other parts of the country.
The tournament attracted players from Ho tennis Club, UCC Tennis Club, St, Francis Foundation-Ashaiman, Regional Maritime Tennis Club-Nungua, Kaneshie Tennis Club, Sakumono Tennis Club, Ghana Tennis Club-Adabraka, TDC Tennis Club, TOR Tennis Club and GHACEM Tennis Club.
