PFAG congratulate George Oppong Weah

The Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) has congratulated President-elect, George Oppong Weah following his election victory.

After a sound presidential run-off on the Thursday, ex-African Best polled 61.5% of the vote while his challenger, Joseph Boakai secured 38.5%.

After hearing news of Weah’s victory, PFAG took to twitter to congratulate him on winning the polls.

The 51year-old won the first round of the presidential polls in October with 38.4% of the vote as against 28.8% for Mr Boakai, 73. The failure of any candidate to secure an outright majority forced the run-off.

Weah as a footballer played for of clubs such as AC Milan, Chelsea and Paris St-Germain.

He is the only footballer to have won the African Best, Fifa World Player of the Year and the Ballon D’Or in the same year (1995).

PFAG is an accredited body by FIFPro which aim to build a strong relationship among professional footballers, sustaining and providing them with skills after their football careers end.
