Berekum Chelsea striker Kofi Owusu has expressed disappointment over rumours that his two goals against Hearts of Oak on Sunday were fixed.

The forward scored twice as his side narrowly fell 3-2 to the Phobians in a Ghana Premier League matchday 29 fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The aftermath of the game has seen wild circulations that Owusu, who similarly netted twice in a 3-0 defeat of Asante Kotoko in Kumasi, had bribed his way into finding his name on the score sheet.

“When I hear such claims, I get sad,” Owusu told Atinka FM.

“I have scored so many goals. Why did people not say that Chelsea paid Kotoko so I could score against them?

“Why are they talking about my goals against Hearts? This is unfair. I am working hard and will fight on to score more on Sunday to claim the goal-king award.”

With 17 goals and a game to end the season, Owusu is now a goal shy of tying and possibly surpassing current top scorer Nathaniel Asamoah, who has moved on to join Moroccan side Raja Casablanca on a three-year deal from Medeama.

Having attracted attention by his scoring exploits and being named the Ghana Premier League Player of the Month of July, the Chelsea man maintains his doors are open to potential lucrative proposals.

“I am a footballer and I am ready to play for any club whether in the country or outside the country, provided the offer is good for me.

“I am even ready to play for a Division One club that will present a good offer.”

Berekum Chelsea will host Wa All Stars on Sunday in the final matchday of the league.
