Nigerian midfielder Daniel Daga has been sentenced to six months in prison by a Norwegian court after being found guilty of committing a sexual act without consent.
The 19-year-old, who plays for Norwegian side Molde FK, received the sentence following court proceedings in Norway.
However, through his lawyer, Daga has already appealed the verdict, meaning the ruling is not yet legally final and the case will now move forward through the Norwegian judicial system.
In response to the development, Molde confirmed that the young midfielder will not be included in the club’s matchday squad until further notice while the legal process continues.

Daga joined Molde just in 2025, from Nigerian giants Enyimba FC, arriving with a growing reputation as one of Nigeria’s promising young midfield talents.
Before his move to Europe, he had impressed with his performances at youth level and was viewed as a player with significant potential.
The midfielder also represented Nigeria at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup, where he featured in four matches during the tournament.
Nigeria’s campaign ended in the Round of 16, but Daga was among the players who gained valuable international tournament experience.
Despite the promise surrounding his career, Daga has yet to make an appearance for Molde this season.
The midfielder has been sidelined since October 2025 due to injury, keeping him out of competitive action for several months.
With the appeal now lodged, the case remains ongoing, and the final legal outcome will depend on the next stages of the judicial process in Norway.
Meanwhile, Molde are maintaining their stance of keeping the player out of matchday activities until the matter is fully resolved.
