Otto Addo get 12-Months Contract

Former Black Stars midfielder, Otto Addo is not walking out of Borussia Dortmund as media reports have speculated. The German side have now handed Otto Addo a new 12-month contract.

Otto Addo, who has missed football action due to injury, now has some hope to resurrect his career, which has been plagued by injury.

Dortmund?s 12-month contract offer to the Ghanaian player is to be based on a performance- related payment scheme.

Addo, a popular face at Borussia Dortmund joined the former German champions in 1999 from Hannover 96.

But the talented midfielder has suffered to play consistently for Dortmund within the past two years due to injuries. He has gone under the knife on three occasions to repair torn cruciate ligaments.

Addo, 29, feared he could end his career prematurely due to the nagging knee injury but has been given hope by doctors.

Though he is still recuperating and not expected to return to action before the winter break, new Borrusia Dortmund coach, Bert van Marwijk has invited him to join the club?s pre-season preparations in their training camp in Austria.

In the 2003/04 season the Ghanaian player made only five appearances for Dortmund in both domestic and continental games scoring a goal.

Addo picked up his third cruciate ligament injury in June 2001 during Dortmund?s Uefa Cup victory against Vienna in September 2003.
