The host region of Ghana’s most celebrated high school basketball competition-Sprite Ball Championship- Greater Accra Region, finally has a representative winning the prestigious competition.

Presbyterian Senior High School (Osu PRESEC) won this year’s competition ending a long title drought for teams representing the region.

The little known school beat record winners Mfantsipim School 25-22 in this year’s final game with fellow regional representative Sacred Heart Technical Institute placing fourth.

In the male and female divisions, schools from the region have failed to win a title after dominating the early editions of the Championship.

The last time a team from the region won the trophy in the male division was in 2009 where Armed Forces Senior High Technical School won.

Sacred Heart’s female side won the competition in 2009 and 2010 highlighting a successful time for the region.

The likes of Achimota School and St. Mary’s Senior High School won the championship in the first three editions of the tournament which commenced in 2007.
