Osei Kwaku Licks His Wounds

The out-going Minister for Youth and Sports Hon. Osei Kwaku appeared in Parliament last Friday in a brown British suit with brown shoes to match, looking pale, sullen and very askance.

The minister appeared very distanced from himself, perhaps on a mental excursion or he tried to recover from the terse radio announcement the previous night about the 'Presidential Special Initiative on Cabinet reshuffle.'

His esteemed name as a successful lawyer and a Member of Parliament (MP) for Asokwa West did not find place in any of the ministries, not even the newly created ones.

From the press gallery one could see disappointment forming visible lumps across his face as a few sympathetic and faithful colleagues - including former minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. E. T. Mensah, took turns to console him.

He did not smile the whole day but managed to answer the many phone calls he was seen answering, apparently from sympathisers and friends.

On the contrary, it was all toothpaste smiles as Paapa Owusu Ankomah, leader of the House and newly-appointed attorney general and minister for Justice, moved freely to enjoy warm felicitations from both sides of the House and suddenly changed his laughing style from "C-minor" to "G-minor."

Mr. Osei Kwaku failed to heed persistent media pressures on the president to have him removed for non-performance to strive to inspire his output until he lost the position in a Cabinet reshuffle last week.
