Osei Kofi Cautions GFA

Former Black Stars player Reverend Osei Kofi has cautioned the Kwasi Nyantakyi led Ghana Football Association (GFA) to sit up or else it will win no silverware.

Saddened by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) absence at the Retired National Football Association of Ghana (RENFAG) Fund Raising at the Banquet Hall, State House, last Saturday, Osei, nicked named ‘Dribbling Wizard’, expressed gross discontent about the FA’s ‘no show’.

“I am very disappointed in the FA. None of them was present at such an important occasion. They should remember that the four times Ghana won the Nations Cup was during our era.

“If they don’t put their house in order, they will not lift any trophy till their tenure is over. I am not cursing them, but they should remember that they are living off our sweat and toil,” the soft spoken former national star lamented after the program.

“Their absence notwithstanding, God has seen us through the program, and we together with the few with good hearts have been able to make the program a success because God knows it is a good cause,” he added.

In like manner, the chairman of RENFAG Alhaji Ibrahim Sunday expressed worry about the FA members’ failure to grace the occasion saying, “I am highly disappointed, and this confirms our notion about them that they don’t have a place for us in their books.”

The RENFAG chairman told DAILY GUIDE SPORTS that “we expected about 500 people but as you can see, less than 200 attended the programme, but we take consolation in the fact that the money we raised exceeded our target.”

RENFAG, it its hanker to improve the welfare of retired footballers in the country last Saturday in partnership with Primeval Consult organized a fund raising dinner dance for the upkeep of the retired players.

The programme, which attracted Liverpool legend and chaired by Dormaahene Oseadeayo Osagyefo Agyeman Baby II raised GH¢44,000.
