Opare eyes England move

Ghana defender Daniel Opare has set his sights on playing in England after being linked with a move to Premier League side Sunderland.

The Black Cats were reported to be among the clubs monitoring the potential availability of the Standard Liege defender.

The 20-year-old who can play at either right-back or left-back, joined Standard Liège from Real Madrid Castilla – the reserve club of the Spanish giants – a year ago and is now attracting attention from several clubs across Europe after impressing in Belgium

Opare says he wants to play in the top leagues of Europe including England if the chance comes this transfer window.

“Every footballer want to progress. I have a dream to go to a much bigger league like England, France or Germany,” Opare said.

Lyon, Lille, Wolfsburg and Spartak Moscow have joined Sunderland in being interested in a player whom Liège have valued at £7m but who is likely to be sold for something closer to £4m.
