Olympics axe twelve players

Twelve players of Accra Great Olympics have been hit by the disciplinary rod of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) as part of measures to streamline the club.

Among the players affected are J.B. Danquah and one-time hardworking Kobina Dodzi who have been suspended for two months. Three other players suspended for two months are Frankie Ansah, Fatawu Barnes and James Amarquaye Amartey. The suspension of the five players is the result of their acts of gross indiscipline and apparent lack of commitment to the club.

In another move, seven players have been put on the transfer list. They are David Larkotey Lartey, Albert Nkansah, Samuel Ayitey, David Sarkodie, Joshua Quarcoopome, Nathan Quarshie and Aziz Otoo.

Mr Frank Davies, Secretary of the club said the seven players who have been transferred have the liberty to negotiate with any club of their choice for onward release. He however, expressed the management?s appreciation to them for their services and urged them to hand over any club properly in their possession at the Secretariat.

Olympics chairman, R.O. Solomon noted that the latest trend of events in the club was part of his management?s aim of institution discipline in the club. He called on all well-meaning supporters of the club to help champion the crusade of reviving Olympics.

The Olympics chairman noted that the club?s management must be firm in reorienting the players since as managers they must learn to apply management principles. ?What is important now is for all our supporters to rally behind us and success and glory will be ours at the end of the day,? he added.
