Okrah frustrated after Hilal defeat in Omdurman derby

Augustine Okrah Augustine Okrah

Ghanaian midfielder Augustine Okrah has admitted his disappointment following his side Al Hilal's 2-1 defeat to city rivals Al Merriekh in the CAF Champions League penultimate group game on Friday. Hilal is now sitting at the bottom of Group A with only four points after five games.

The 23-year-old, who was facing his former side, after joining Hilal from Merriekh in a two-year deal in December, lasted till the 63rd minute and was replaced with Nigerian Azeez Shabowale.

"It was definitely a missed chance to make a statement in the competition. A win or at least a draw would have obviously given us a perfect opportunity to make it to the quarterfinals," Okrah told Goal.

"The situation now is serious but everything happens for a reason. We've got to find a way to right the wrongs in the future and hopefully break the jinx.

"We're all disappointed but we have to keep calm and wish for the best in the subsequent matches," he added.

Ghanaian striker Abednego Tetteh, who joined Hilal in December 2016, has been released after series of uninspiring performances in the CAF Champions League, having gone five games without hitting the back of the net.
