OKWAWU HOLD KOTOKO

Okwawu United yesterday brought back smiles to their vociferous supporters when they put a good fight in a pulsating goalless drawn game in their played 20th week ABC premier league match at the Nkawkaw park. The match played at the same venue last Sunday was rained off following a heavy downpour which made ball control difficult. Okwawu however, were leading 1-0.

That was the first time in so many weeks Okwawu played at home because of the home ban imposed by the GFA for the behaviour of their supporters. The match, which was watched by a fairly large crowd was nearly marred by some in decisions of Accra-based class on referee Alex Kotey. It was also a match in which Asante Kotoko had many scoring chances in the first half but poor shooting upfront coupled with good goal-keeping from Okwawu's new found Daniel Kokoti and beautiful defensive work by Okwawu spearheaded by skipper Seth Osei robbed them dearly.

Kotoko's outside right Kwadwo Anane in the 6th minute for instance had only the keeper to beat but shot wide. In the 22nd minute, centre forward Dada Asamoah's powerful shot was saved by the keeper. The two teams, after a goalless first half resumed the second half with great determination, but it was Okwawu who had the first corner kick in the 50th minute wasted it. Graphic
