Nyantakyi's opponent for FIFA Council race Kalusha pulls out

Zambian legend Kalusha Bwalya has pulled out of the the race to face Kwesi Nyantakyi for the FIFA Council seat which means the Ghana FA president will only contest Tanzania's Leodegar Tenga for the sole place.

The Former Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Bwalya threw in the towel on Friday for the single place reserved for the Anglophone Group within CAF.

Kalusha, 53, who was in the race to fight Nyantakyi and Tenga but withdrew citing the need for unity as the key reason for his move.

“I took the decision for the sake of unity in world football,” Kalusha said.

“I would like to wish both Tenga and Kwesi all the best in the upcoming elections.”

Nyantakyi now faces a tough fight against Tenga, who is being backed by CAF President Issa Hayatou to defeat the Ghanaian.

The elections are scheduled for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on 16th March 2017 during the 39th Ordinary General Assembly of CAF.
