Nyantakyi explains 'blank' Uganda budget to Ministry of Sports

The president of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi, has shed light on the purported 'blank budget' for Ghana's upcoming 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifier against Uganda delivered to the Ministry of Sports.

The GFA has been involved in a prolonged dispute with the ministry over issues concerning the management of national teams since Nii Lantey Vanderpuije began his reign as head of the latter in February

Essentially, the ministry has consistently voiced out frustrations at being left in the dark about several key decisions on the teams, while the FA insists the ministry's public outbursts have left much to be desired.

"The Black Stars does not belong to the GFA," Nyantakyi was quoted as telling Hot FM.

"We are only supporting the minister. We have been ridiculed and accused of being corrupt unduly, and so we have presented the document to the ministry so they can fill in the figures.

"We have no problem with the minister, but we have not been happy with his public utterances.

"Anytime we draw up a budget, we are viewed as thieves, and so we want them to do their own thing.

"Infact he [minister] has met the players before without informing us. I also read in the media. So I'm sure he can draw up his own budget. We are only here to help as a federation."

Ghana host Uganda at the Tamale Sports Stadium on Friday in their first group match of the Africa Zone qualifiers, ahead of matches against Egypt and Congo.
