Former Inter Allies defender, Baba Mensah caims it is difficult to be adjudged the best defender in the Ghana Premier league.

The Black Meteors center back was voted the best defender after sterling performance with Tema-based club, Inter Allies and the he believes winning the accolade was down hard work which has been rewarded with a move to BK Hacken.

The 21-year-old centre-back is hoping to replicate his impressive performance from last season’s GPL that saw him beat off competition from former Ashgold captain Lawrence Lartey and Kotoko’s Ahmed Adams for the best defender accolade.

“It’s not easy to be the defender in the whole of Ghana. It takes a lot of determination and hardwork so I just thank God for being here because Hacken is a very big family and club,” Mensah told BK Hacken’s website.

Mensah has revealed that BK Hacken’s fellow Ghanaian player Nasiru Mohammed motivated him after he sealed the one-season loan deal with the Swedish club in November last year.

“Yeah I know Momo Nasiru. Nasiru is like a brother to me because we have been in the national under-17 team. He was the captain and I was the assistant captain and he used to score a lot of goals.

“He had the opportunity to be here so we chat a lot and he has been motivating me a lot when I got this offer.” He revealed.
