Nortey Ashong signs for Spezia

Ghanaian youngster Nii Nortey Ashong has signed a one year loan deal with Italian Serie B side Spezia Calcio, Goal Ghana can exclusively reveal.

The 18-year-old left-back who is originally owned by Fiorentina will use the newly-promoted Serie B side as a means of getting more playing time in order to return and command a regular place in the La Viola setup.

Nortey, who has been tipped by coach Vicenzo Montella as the future of his backline, made his senior appearance for Fiorentina against Empoli on November 24, 2011 in the Italian Cup and was a key part of their Primavera side.

The player who is also very efficient as a central defender was signed by Fiorentina from Triestina for an amount of 300,000 Euros and was also a loan target of AC Avellino.

He was invited to the Black Satellites camp last year and was one of the brightest spots when they drew against Narita FC at the Legon Park.
