No cash to shoot in Egypt

The president of the Ghana National Rifle Association Cillian George Walsh has disclosed to Starr Sports his outfit is struggling to raise the necessary funds to participate in a Championship in Egypt.

The fund raising has been necessary after Government refused to dole out money for two members of the Black Snipers with just 19 days to the start of the African Shooting Championship in Egypt.

The continental competition which kicks starts 24th -28th of November will also serve as qualifications to the 2016 Olympics in Rio.

Walsh believes his mission will be accomplished if he seals a sponsorship deal.

“I don’t want to blame the Ministry of Youth and Sport because there is a regular chorus of there is 'no money'. But we are trying to raise the funds for the competition for a male and female. If possible we will qualify for the Brazil Olympics”, he told Starr Sports.

The Shooting team made their first major appearance at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014.
