No Ghanaian referee for CHAN

Wad Madany, Sudan, Feb. 7, GNA - Ghanaian referees have for the seco= nd successive season failed to make the cut for the African Nations Championship (CHAN). The Ghanaian 91Knights of the Whistle' are conspicuously missing fr= om the 32-member list for the second edition of the CHAN, which is ongoing in Sudan after missing out on the maiden edition held in 2009 in Abidjan, Cote d'Voire.

During the first edition, Tamale-based assistant referee Haruna Ayuba restored some pride for the Ghanaian officials, but only lasted up to the quarter final stage. Information gathered by GNA Sports at Wad Madany, Sudan has it that bu= t for Joseph Lamptey's suspension following the Esperance-Ahly CAF Champion= s League semi-final clash last year, he would have been included to handle th= e Championship.

The Immigration Officer is said to have been dropped out of the lists of 91Elite Referees', hence his absence from the competition designed exclusively for local-based footballers.

The signals are the best for Ghanaian referees to improve on their performances after been left out for African U-17 Championship held in Rwanda barely a month ago.

The selected match officials are from Algeria, Angola, Benin, Burundi, Cameroon, Cote d'Ivoire, Eritrea, Gambia, Gabon, Libya, Mali, Malawi, Mauritius, Morocco, Kenya, Nigeria, Tunisia and Zambia. 0
