No GFA offer for Akwasi Appiah yet

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is yet to contact Akwasi Appiah over the vacant assistant national team post.

The former Ghana captain has been mooted by members of GFA as the replacement for Sellas Tetteh, who has been made the substantive coach of Ghana's U-20 team.

Even though Appiah's appointment has been widely publicised in the Ghana media, the former Asante Kotoko defender has told Ghanasoccernet that he is yet to be officially informed to return to his former position.

Appiah, who held the post in 2001 assisting Jones Attuquayefio, says he is very keen on the post.

"I am ever ready to help the national team but i have not received any offer yet but I am waiting for it to arrive," Appiah told Ghanasoccernet.

The name of another former Ghana defender Frimpong Manso is the fresh name to be touted for the post.

Meanwhile, the GFA has moved to quell the notion that Tetteh was demoted after being appointed the Black Satellites coach.

Kwasi Nyantakyi, GFA president, says Tetteh was chosen to replicate what he has learnt from French coach Claude Le Roy.

In a related development, Black Stars goalkeepers' coach Edward Ansah will embark on a trip to England for some short coaching courses.

Ansah is also a coach with champion club Accra Hearts of Oak.
