Ghana’s U-20 female national team coach, Yusuf Basigi, has insisted that his charges will be ban from celebrating Christmas due to their final World Cup qualifier Cameroon.

The first leg will be played in Yaoundé on 12 January 2017 and the return encounter after two weeks.

The team arrived in Ghana last night after advancing to the final stage of the FIFA Women’s U-20 World Cup qualifiers after completing a 10-1 aggregate win over Kenya on Sunday at the Kenyatta Stadium.

According to the technical handler, all importance is being attached to the Cameroon encounter for qualification.

“We will allow the team to rest for ten days and then return to prepare for the World Cup so the girls will forfeit Christmas.

“All the girls will, therefore, celebrate the Christmas in Prampram and after qualification, there is more Christmas.

“Now women football in every country is growing so we need to respect every opponent so we will attach every importance to this game,” Basigi told Starr Sports.

The 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup finals will be played from 5-24 August.
