Former Youth and Sports Minister Hon. Nii Lante Vanderpuye has frowned on the statement made by the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi, that sports journalism standards have plummeted.

During the just ended Ghana Football Association Summit in Cape Coast, the nation's football governing body head, Kwesi Nyantakyi asserted that sports journalism standards have drastically dropped.

But according to the outspoken former sports minister, Hon. Nii Lante Vanderpuye, journalism in the country has evolved hence journalist are more meticulous now unlike it used to be.

"I am not going to agree. Today Journalism has changed because those days, our forefather who started the profession would say that research were a bit limited and narrow but now people have broad spectrum for which they reach out to them,” Hon. Vanderpuye stated on GH ONE TV.

"So the little knowledge which we have here could be enlightened and enlarged under experiences from other sides so the Journalists today become more critical in their approach to things than it was before. And when we started Journalism at that time, the responsibility principle was there. Today the liberalisation is there already but it also given room to a lot of unriped fruits,” he added.
